Artist Introduction
Born on March 11, 1956, in California, USA, C. Lassen showed talent for painting from a young age, being immersed in art since the age of four. He moved to Maui, Hawaii in 1966, where he fell in love with the ocean. After much experimentation, he established his unique style called "2WORLD," expressing the universe and ocean floor through the interplay of water. He began exhibiting his work in 1976 while concurrently competing as a professional surfer internationally and achieving high rankings. In 1983, Lassen produced the image art "Sanctuary" for the UN’s Clean Ocean Campaign. He was chosen as the official artist of the Honolulu Marathon in 1989, and in 1990, he founded the environmental protection organization Sea Vision in return for the ocean's blessings. In 1992, "Sanctuary" became a UN commemorative stamp. Additionally, he created the official poster for the movie "Flipper" in 1996. In 1998, he produced the official poster for International Year of the Ocean and was appointed goodwill ambassador for the NGO organization F.U.N. He also released the song "TURN THE TIDE," in which he is the composer and vocalist. As a leading figure in marine art, his popularity in Japan is immense.
