Collector Commentary
Magic Story I: Fire Graduate is a scarce PC Engine Arcade CD-ROM2 title from the late 1980s, representing a niche corner of the system's library that saw limited domestic circulation even in Japan. The Arcade CD-ROM2 format itself commands collector attention due to its proprietary hardware requirement and the small install base; combined with the game's obscurity outside specialist circles, mint condition examples with complete box and manual are genuinely difficult to locate. Condition matters significantly for PC Engine CD titles—sun damage and disc rot are endemic problems in the Japanese market—making this documented A+/A- specification (no sun damage, confirmed functionality) a meaningful premium over typical listings. Japanese domestic versions and early-run pressings carry historical weight that domestic collectors recognize but Western markets often overlook.
