DAO Console Real Edition Double - Modified Black PCB EMP Plate GAMO2 RED

Description

This item was purchased nearly 15 years ago when my local arcade closed down. During the process of setting it up and replacing parts, I discovered a passion for DIY and modifications. However, as many nearby arcades continued to close and I sustained neck and shoulder injuries in an accident about a year after purchase, my motivation dwindled and I only play occasionally now—perhaps a few days to a couple of weeks per year during gatherings with friends who are also rhythm game players. Prior to the listing, I have cleaned and disassembled the item, but please note that it shows some signs of aging, modifications, and wear due to its vintage nature. There are no damages that significantly affect gameplay. The faux leather has been replaced once, but it does have some minor scuffs. The acrylic base paper has been mostly replaced with that from a RED 2nd model. The start/select button area was a different size, so that part is made from glossy paper (the original panel is also included underneath this section). Though the exterior is of an older model, it is equipped with the DAO console black PCB, known for its excellent response time comparable to the phoenixwan at 1ms delay, making for a comfortable playing experience. Ideal for collectors who appreciate the aesthetic of older arcade console panels. Tested and confirmed to work with INFINITAS and PS2. Modifications include: - Replaced with DAO console black PCB This is a well-reviewed PCB with a delay of only 1ms, usable with PS2 without conversion converters. The firmware is updated to the latest version. - Keyboard section The keyboard section has been modified so that it can be accessed for maintenance from the arcade cabinet side, with extended cables for pulling out the keyboard parts. Please excuse the rough craftsmanship as it was done during my novice phase without tools. - Top screws replaced with stainless steel The default iron screws can rust and tarnish easily, so I have replaced all top hex screws with stainless steel. For ease of maintenance, the screws on the keyboard section are thumb screws. If desired, I can change to lower profile screws that match other sections. - Other Silicon spray applied to springs. The acrylic panel base paper has been changed to a Red 2nd version. The palm rest faux leather has been reupholstered. The scratch area sticker has been replaced with a new one (it may warp during cold weather due to the material). Setup (same on both sides): - Sanwa buttons - Sanwa Electronics 20g springs - Omron D2MV-01-1C3 0.49N - LED colors: Pink for buttons 2, 4, 6; White for buttons 1, 3, 5, 7; Blue for start/select; Blue for the plate. There are still some surplus used parts available, and if you wish to change the spring weight, switch weight, or LED colors, I can accommodate at a reasonable cost (however, for new parts or a complete switch to new springs, please cover the actual costs). If you have special requests such as quieting buttons with felt or creating themed controllers by inserting illustrations, I can also assist with those modifications. Dimensions are approximately 130cm wide, 45cm tall, and 10cm deep. The weight is under 15kg. Packaging will be done securely with bubble wrap and cardboard, appropriate for shipping via Yamato or Sagawa on a cash-on-delivery basis. Direct pickup is also welcome.

Collector Commentary

The DAO Console Real Edition Double represents a significant artifact in rhythm game controller customization culture, particularly for beatmaniaIIDX enthusiasts who prize low-latency, arcade-authentic home setups. The DAO black PCB's 1ms response time is genuinely competitive with high-end arcade hardware, making this a functional collector piece rather than purely aesthetic. This specific unit combines desirable vintage panel aesthetics (original Real Edition housing) with modern, well-documented modification work—including Sanwa components and Omron switches—creating a hybrid that appeals to both preservationists and performance-focused players. The documented modification history and seller's transparency about condition and parts sourcing reflects mature collector standards within Japan's rhythm game DIY community, where such units command sustained interest despite arcade closures.
