Collector Commentary
This rare cel animation piece featuring Super Saiyan Son Goku from *Dragon Ball Z*, created by Akira Toriyama, showcases a pivotal moment in anime history as the show originally aired in Japan from 1989 to 1996, significantly shaping the shonen genre. Cel art from this franchise, especially those with original backgrounds and production notes, is highly sought after by collectors, with notable examples often fetching high prices in auctions due to their historical significance and limited availability. Although this piece has some adhesive residue affecting its condition, the authenticity and detailed craftsmanship inherent to early runs in Japan contribute to its collectability. With the current bid set at ¥298,000, it reflects typical trends in the market, where original anime art from *Dragon Ball Z* remains a desirable investment for dedicated fans and collectors alike.
