My Neighbor Totoro Cel Animation

Collector Commentary

This original animation cel from *My Neighbor Totoro*, a beloved Studio Ghibli film released in 1988, taps into the enduring appeal of Hayao Miyazaki’s work, known for its enchanting visuals and deep connection to nature. As a limited edition piece, its rarity is enhanced by Studio Ghibli's meticulous preservation practices, which make authenticated cels like this particularly sought after among collectors. Given the self-assessed Near Mint condition, the estimated bid reflects the strong demand for authentic Japanese animation art, which tends to command premium prices in the collector’s market. The cel's provenance from an iconic film ensures its lasting value, standing apart from less notable prints in the realm of anime collectibles.
