Biography Claude Weisbuch
Born in 1927 in Thionville, France. Studied at the Nancy School of Fine Arts, mastering various printmaking techniques. Weisbuch's high compositional skill and expression are often compared to those of Lautrec and Degas. His early renowned works featuring musicians beautifully capture the dynamics of performance. By using sepia tones, he enhances the dramatic effect, creating an exceptionally original artistic world. Works are held in collections at the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Royal Academy in Brussels, and the Yamagata Museum of Art in Japan; also created large pieces for the banquet hall at Hotel New Otani in Osaka, showcasing a wide range of activities. He passed away in 2014.

Collector Commentary

This original oil painting by Claude Weisbuch, known for his expressive depictions of musicians, showcases his ability to combine movement and emotion within a classic medium. Weisbuch’s works are highly regarded among art collectors, especially those focused on modern European art, and particularly those with ties to Japan's richer art history, which features his pieces in several major museums. The painting's good condition, framed with care, enhances its collectability, aligning its current bid of ¥230,000 with typical market expectations for art of this caliber in the Japanese collectors' sphere. With the increasing interest in Weisbuch’s oeuvre, this piece serves as an attractive prospect for discerning collectors seeking original works rather than reproductions.
