Collector Commentary

This Sazae-san cel set, featuring 28 cels and 16 authenticated backgrounds, represents a significant piece of Japanese animation history, as the series has been entertaining audiences since its debut in 1969. The ongoing collector demand for Sazae-san stems from its cultural significance as a beloved family comedy, often serving as an introduction to anime for many fans. While the overall condition is good, the noted minor damage on two cels may impact its appeal to some collectors who prioritize pristine condition, especially given the historical scarcity of such original production materials. Sourced directly from Japan, the set offers an authentic glimpse into the animation process, making it a valuable addition for serious collectors of vintage anime art.
