Collector Commentary
The large-size cel from *Stop!! Hibari-kun!* represents a fascinating piece of anime history, capturing a moment from the early 1980s when the series, produced by Pony Canyon, aired in 1983. This cel, measuring 45.4 cm x 25.8 cm, is notable for its rarity, particularly as it was used for a limited edition EP record, underscoring the unique cross-media marketing prevalent in that era. While signs of aging and wear may affect its condition, demand for authentic animation cels—especially from vintage titles—remains strong among collectors focused on original artwork from Japan's rich anime heritage. Prices like the current bid of ¥200,000 are consistent with market values for high-quality, early-run collectibles, especially given the cel's direct affiliation with a beloved series.
