Description
I am in a hurry, so I am using the previous seller's photographs as they are.
This is a 1940s unlined Tiger Head jacket. 1940s souvenir jackets are rare to find. The impact of the tiger head is magnificent, and I believe you will be even more impressed in person.
The zipper is an early (40s) YKK butterfly, and the pull tab on the B side (brown side) was missing from the start.
There is overall damage to the ribbing (especially the ribbing on the left sleeve), so I recommend rib replacement if that concerns you.
All sales are final, no claims or returns.
(This is not for resale purposes, so the Buy It Now price is set at the amount I paid when I won the auction.)

Super SPECIAL Pattern 1940-50s [TIGER HEAD] SOUVENIR Jacket No Liner
First of all, the body color is excellent, and the lack of a liner is quite rare. However, the main charm of this item is the magnificent [Tiger Head] on the back. It is entirely different from a regular tiger head. The quality of the embroidery is exceptional; the impact is overwhelming. The expressions are outstanding, and the details are beautiful. The use of gold thread for the eyes is also stylish. Of course, this is the original from back then.
I mentioned the incredible quality of the main embroidery on the back at the beginning, but the sides on the front are also splendid. Typically, the front chest embroidery is simple, but the left and right tiger heads here are both large and of very high quality. Additionally, the embroidery of the eagle on the backside is fantastic. The front thread color choices and quality are so vibrant, they could very well be the main feature; however, when weighed against that tiger head, it’s a different story. Just like the tigers in ukiyo-e, it has a unique and powerful presence. The embroidery work is not only skilled but also has a unique lifelike dynamism. I think it is simply magnificent. I really favor vintage souvenir jackets like this, which are hard to find; it is too precious to let go.... However, I want to present another piece of good vintage, so I have decided to release it. Collectors and fans, I would greatly appreciate your interest.
This item was personally acquired during my trip to the USA. There is no distribution history in Japan, and since bringing it back, it has only been seen by my eyes. I believe this history adds to its charm. It’s an exceptional piece for both practical use and display.
● Actual measuring size
- Width (approx. 53 cm), Length (approx. 64 cm), Sleeve Length (approx. 73 cm from collar base).
Please understand that there might be slight discrepancies due to amateur measurement. This item is used. Given the nature of vintage clothing, there may be minor scratches and wear not mentioned in the description. The fabric is still sturdy. There is damage to the ribbing, particularly on the left sleeve. I debated whether to repair it or leave it as is, but I chose to keep the current condition. Of course, rib replacement is possible at a repair shop, so feel free to replace them if that concerns you. The body has only slight hand-sewn restitching, so it is in relatively good condition without needing further work.
Above all, this embroidery, especially the tiger head on the back... simply stunning. If you are seeking an item in pristine condition, please refrain from bidding. All sales are final; no claims or returns, thank you.

Collector Commentary
This Vintage 1940s Souvenir Jacket showcases a stunning tiger head embroidery, emblematic of a rare subculture of American-style jackets that have become increasingly coveted among collectors. As an unlined variant, its rarity is amplified, especially with the remarkable craftsmanship and intricate detail that characterize mid-century Japanese embroidery. The current condition, featuring rib damage, impacts collectability, but could still appeal to purists seeking an authentic, unaltered piece of fashion history. Priced at ¥235,000, this item reflects the growing demand and appreciation for vintage apparel within the Japanese collector market.
