Vintage Buffet Crampon Wooden Flute from the Early 20th Century

1 / 1

Description

This is a Buffet Crampon wooden flute produced in the early 20th century. It is a beautiful instrument made of dark brown cocobolo wood, almost black in appearance. Cocobolo wood is currently very rare and nearly unobtainable, with few modern instruments made from this material. The flute features an inlay at the embouchure, a fully silver-plated key system restored, polished, and all pads replaced. It has been balanced and adjusted for optimal playing. This instrument is a historical piece from the same era as Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel, both of whom lived during the early 20th century in France. It is offered to someone who understands its value. A case is included. Shipping costs will be covered by the seller.

Collector Commentary

This Vintage Buffet Crampon wooden flute from the early 20th century exemplifies the high artistry found in French musical instruments of its time. Crafted from the increasingly rare cocobolo wood, it not only pays homage to the rich cultural milieu of composers like Debussy and Ravel but also stands as a testament to the craftsmanship of Buffet Crampon, a revered name in the world of woodwinds. The restoration of its silver-plated key system enhances its playability, making it an appealing option for both collectors and musicians alike. Given the historical significance and the quality of materials, the bidding price reflects typical values seen in the Japan market for authentic, well-preserved vintage flutes.
