## Description
Arnold Brilhart A B ligature ST mark.
This is an extremely rare vintage ligature designed for tenor saxophones, which I believe is difficult to obtain due to its rarity.
I purchased this ligature on eBay in January 2010.
This ligature is for the Brilhart Streamline tenor sax mouthpiece.
The Streamline has a narrow mouthpiece, so standard tenor sax mouthpieces are typically too wide for this ligature; thus, it probably won't be usable with them.
However, it can be used adequately with standard alto sax mouthpieces.
Being vintage (I was informed that it was made in the 1930s when I bought it on eBay), it shows some signs of aging but is in good condition overall. Please see the photos.
As of now, there is one alto version listed on eBay, but there are none available for tenor.
By the way, the current listing price is $1,200 (shipping costs $82.51 additional), which is approximately ¥225,000 (including shipping) in Japanese yen as of October 2024.
This item is specifically designed for tenor, making it even rarer, and this is why the price is set as such.

## Collector note
The Arnold Brilhart A-B ligature represents a narrow window in American saxophone accessory history—the 1930s Streamline mouthpiece era—when Brilhart's proprietary designs required equally proprietary hardware. Tenor versions are substantially rarer than alto variants, as fewer Streamline tenor mouthpieces survived or remained in active use. Vintage ligature condition directly impacts playability and tonal response; signs of wear here are consistent with genuine age and use. The specificity of this piece—incompatible with standard tenor mouthpieces but functional with alto setups—makes it primarily valuable to Streamline mouthpiece collectors rather than general tenor players, narrowing the buyer pool and explaining the sustained premium pricing across multiple markets.
