## Collector note
Shinji Nakahori's 1987 'Musical Inspiration' represents a notable example of 1980s Japanese contemporary art practice, combining traditional figuration with decorative gold leaf application—a technique that commands attention in domestic fine art markets. The artist's signed works from this period, particularly large-scale pieces exceeding 70cm, circulate primarily through Japanese secondary markets and have maintained modest collector following among those tracking 1980s Japanese studio practice. Condition is critical for framed works of this vintage; used condition with anticipated minor wear will moderately impact valuation relative to gallery-documented examples. Japanese domestic provenance and original framing are significant authenticating factors for artists working outside major international auction houses.
