* Potential buyers are encouraged to have relevant knowledge about historical items before purchase.

## Collector note
Kamakura-period star helmets (hoshi kabuto) represent a pivotal evolution in Japanese armor design, valued for their distinctive radial construction and the historical narratives encoded in their family crests. This example bears Kudo clan mon, linking it to the Ito family of Fujiwara descent—a significant genealogical marker for samurai armor collectors. The as-is condition and seller's explicit non-authentication stance underscore the due diligence required with historical pieces; provenance, metallurgy, and structural integrity demands expert examination before acquisition. Pieces bearing verified clan crests command premium collector interest, though authentication remains essential given the market's susceptibility to later-period reproductions.
