Their beautiful guitars are loved by world-class musicians like Carlos Santana, John Mayer, Orianthi Panagaris, DAITA, and PABLO. This model Silver Sky is John Mayer's signature model, developed through direct discussions between John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith, taking two years of research and development to bring the product to life. The aesthetics feature a traditional double-cutaway design, packed with PRS's unique engineering approaches and ideas throughout. The body is made of Alder, neck from Maple, and fingerboard from Rosewood, consisting of traditional woods essential in the history of electric guitars. It features a traditional lacquer finish, completed with a thin coat that meets PRS’s strict standards. The neck shape adopts the 635JM-R shape, carefully researched based on the shape of vintage guitars from 1963 to 1964 loved by John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith, developed through various testing. The fingerboard radius is 7.25, providing a more Fender-like and vintage guitar feel compared to SE models. The scale length adopts the traditional 25.5 inches, slightly longer than PRS's standard 25 inches. The headstock has a reverse head design based on PRS's unique design, tailored to John Mayer's playing style. The tuning machines are vintage-style Kluson, mounted asymmetrically in a locking type. The bridge features an original six-point tremolo unit designed per John Mayer's specifications for a direct connection of string vibrations to the body, outputting a tighter sound compared to floating settings. The pickups are the Silver Sky dedicated 635JM, inspired by the sound of vintage guitars from 1963 to 1964. It maintains a bright sound signature without becoming harsh in higher frequencies, cutting unnecessary frequencies for a refined modern take on traditional single-coil tones. The knobs and jack plate feature PRS's unique designs, adding a touch of individuality to a traditional look. Interestingly, it is said that John Mayer could forget his instrument and still perform at a live show with this high-quality guitar bought directly from the store. Balancing the vintage guitar feel with high playability unique to PRS, it is a must-try for those looking for high-quality, practical single-coil guitars. In March 2026, Paul Reed Smith personally came to TONIQ to sign this guitar. Crafted by skilled artisans, it undergoes strict quality checks before delivery.
