## Description

This piece was owned by my mother. It is part of the Kimi Collection by Tsuguharu Foujita titled "Mother and Child." Prior to its sale, the work has undergone stain removal (documentation provided for restoration) and is newly framed (using barrier sheets, UV-cut acrylic, and string that can support 5kg). Therefore, it will be fine in a low-humidity, non-direct sunlight environment for over ten years. On the back of the piece (see photos), there is a stamp that reads "COLLECTION KIMIYO FOUJITA," and it notes an event held on July 13, 2007, at Hôtel de Luau in Paris, called Cornette de Saint Cyr, along with the stamp of S. Voisson, which has been obscured during the re-framing for the protection of the artwork. This piece showcases the beautiful and intricate line work and soft color scheme typical of Foujita's style. The "Kimi Collection" consists of prints created by Foujita for his wife, Kimi, primarily produced after World War II. Each artwork has the stamp "COLLECTION KIMIYO FOUJITA" and is hand-signed. In galleries, this piece is listed for 1,300,000 yen, making this a great value. The artist has signed the piece and assigned an edition number. ● Tsuguharu Foujita (1886–1968)
After graduating from Tokyo Fine Arts School, he moved to France and became one of the prominent painters of the École de Paris along with Modigliani. Notably, the graceful beauty of his depictions of nudes with "milky white skin" captivated many. His works featuring cats and nudes are particularly popular. After traveling to Central and South America, he returned to Japan, continued to exhibit in the Nika Art Exhibition, and created war paintings during World War II. Following the war, he returned to France, naturalized, and never set foot on Japanese soil again.
