## Collector note
The Pikachu in Poncho (Rayquaza) 230/XY-P is one of the most sought Japanese XY-era promos, distributed only through premium campaign channels in Japan, making sealed copies extraordinarily scarce. Even played-condition examples command five-figure JPY prices due to the limited print run and the character's iconic appeal; mint copies regularly exceed ¥900k domestically. The holographic print quality on Japanese promos from this era is notably superior to later reprints, and early-run centering/registration tends to be tighter than international variants. Condition is critical to value retention—this example's documented wear (surface scratches, creases, edge chips) significantly impacts its collector grade, but authentication and availability still justify investment for builders seeking Japanese-market promos rather than graded PSA copies.
