## Collector note
ZIPPO×Marlboro collaborations represent a significant crossover between premium lighter manufacturing and tobacco marketing collectibles, particularly valued in the Japanese domestic market where such branded lighters maintained steady production throughout the 1990s-2000s. Brass construction provides durability and develops subtle patina over time, while Marlboro-branded variants command collector interest due to increasingly restrictive tobacco advertising regulations that have limited new releases. Condition (new/unused) dramatically affects value in this category, as ZIPPO lighters are functional tools that typically show wear; an unopened example preserves original finish, mechanism responsiveness, and packaging integrity. Japanese-sourced pieces often feature superior QC standards and earlier manufacturing dates compared to later international production runs.
