## Collector note
This two-plated small armor from the Edo period is a fascinating artifact that represents the intricate craftsmanship of Japanese traditional armory, particularly revered among collectors of historical Japanese items. The use of sandalwood lacquer adds both aesthetic value and a layer of rarity, as this type of finish is less common. While the current bid reflects a typical market range for damaged yet authentic pieces from this era, the authenticity and provenance ensure its desirability among serious collectors. As such, potential buyers will consider not only the item’s historical significance but also its condition and the enduring appreciation for Edo-period craftsmanship in contemporary Japanese culture.
