You will be part of a small, globally distributed team building a the #1 Proxy Buying Service for purchasing from Yahoo Japan and other Japanese stores. You’ll be the one responsible for the technical running of Rinkya from top to bottom (application development, server management, internal IT support), which will give you a lot of freedom over all the day to day aspects of the job. You’re free to experiment with techniques, try new technologies, or use what you know best, as long as it gets the job done. You’ll coordinate directly with the CEO to set priorities and schedules.

Since we’re constantly trying to improve and expand, the job includes a lot of analytics and marketing, so you have a lot of opportunities to learn skills in that area!

In general, we expect you to not be a moron, you have a lot of autonomy, so we expect you to be able to work for yourself, and to help our company grow as best as you are able.

Skills and Requirements

Working Time: 9:00 till 17:00, with 1 hour lunch break (on call for emergencies during off hours)

Required:
  • Excellent knowledge of PHP, MySQL
  • Experience working with Unix (Ubuntu) servers
  • Bachelor degree in computer science or related areas (mainly a Visa requirement)
  • Good communication, communication, and communication.
  • Be excellent at clean and well-documented code.
  • Common sense
  • English language skill (fluent)

Desired:

  • Familiarity with current Web technologies
  • Familiarity with analytics and reporting
  • Familiarity with logistics (international) and e-commerce
  • Demonstrable graphic design skills
  • Japanese language skill (any)
